Despre: "Priscilla of Boston is a bridal business that first opened in 1945 as “The Bride’s Shop” on Newbury Street in Boston, by Priscilla Kidder (1916 – 2003). She offered unique handmade dresses with exquisite lace and beading, which continue to be coveted by brides to this day.
In the 1950s her gowns began to be carried by upscale department stores. In 1956 she gained worldwide acclaim when a Priscilla of Boston gown was chosen for Grace Kelly’s bridesmaids. Her designs continued to be choice for other famous brides: first daughters Luci Johnson in 1965, Julie Nixon in 1968, and Tricia Nixon in 1971. For these high profile clients, Priscilla was on hand to assist the brides herself.
In the 1980s Priscilla of Boston expanded to locations across the country and a line for petite brides was introduced.
In 2002 the company was purchased by May department stores and in 2003 a new full salon concept was introduced. Priscilla of Boston dresses were sold in salons across the country. The company was acquired by David’s Bridal, which closed the Priscilla of Boston boutiques at the end of 2010." (Sursa: Vintage Fashion Guild)
